How old do you have to be to live at Schneider Manor?
Although Schneider Manor serves residents 62 and older, applications for residency can be submitted at any age. Our occupancy is at 100% with a waiting list of 10 to 12 years.
Are you government subsidized?
No we are not. It is our goal to keep our rents as low as possible.
Is the rent based on your income?
No, although we do offer assistance for residents who fall with-in our stated income guidelines. See income verification form.
Who owns Schneider Manor?
Schneider Manor is owned by Lowell Area Housing Inc. and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Do you have a waiting list?
We do have a waiting list of 10 to 12 years.
Is there a washer and dryer in each apartment?
There is a shared laundry facility in 11 of our 12 buildings. There is no laundry hook-up in the apartments.
What are the qualifications to get into Schneider Manor?
Applications will be considered from current residents of Lowell, residing within the Lowell School District or the 49331 postal zip code. Applications will also be considered from former residents of Lowell.
Are pets allowed?
Tenants may not own or take care of other peoples pets, such as cats, dogs, birds or any other animal at any time.
Is smoking allowed in the apartments?
Our apartments, Activity Room and buildings are smoke free.
Can you be gone from the apartment for an extended period of time?
Tenants can be absent from their apartment for no more than 90 days in a calendar year.
What are the self-care requirements?
Applicants must provide a self-care certificate signed by their doctor, stating that they are capable of living on their own, prior to occupancy.
